Safety glazing at low level

Any glazing in a critical location — broadly below 800 mm from floor level, or below 1500 mm beside a door — must be safety glass. In a nursery we treat every accessible pane as critical regardless, and specify laminated rather than toughened so a defeated pane stays in the frame instead of leaving an open aperture.

• Laminated, not toughened, at child level
• Restrictor-limited opening on all accessible units
• No trapping points in the running gear

Nap rooms need the acoustic work

Sleep rooms are usually the smallest and most compromised space in a converted building, often street-facing. This is where cavity depth and laminated glass earn their money, and where an acoustic trickle vent rather than a standard one matters because the room will be closed for an hour or two at a time.

Floor-level cold

Cold air falling off a large single-glazed window pools at exactly the height children play. Raising the glass surface temperature stops the downdraught at source, which is more effective than trying to heat the space harder.

Working around a live setting

We install outside operating hours or during closure periods, and our installers carry current DBS certification. Rooms are handed back cleaned and checked, not left part-finished overnight.
