Then your local authority's housing or energy team — Sheffield City Council, Rotherham MBC, Chesterfield BC and Barnsley MBC have all run locally administered schemes at various points. Then your energy supplier, which may have obligations under national schemes. Then Historic England and your local conservation team for heritage-specific funding.

What has historically been eligible

Insulation and heating measures are usually the priority in national schemes, with glazing sometimes included as a secondary measure and sometimes excluded entirely. Heritage-specific funds are more likely to support secondary glazing precisely because it is the conservation-compatible option. Eligibility is commonly tied to household income, benefits receipt, EPC band or property council tax band.

Avoiding grant scams

Nobody legitimate cold-calls or texts about grant eligibility. Genuine schemes are applied for by you, not sold to you at the door. Never share bank details in response to an unsolicited approach, and check any installer's claim of scheme approval directly with the scheme rather than with the installer.
