Traffic Noise Through Windows
If you live within 30 metres of a main road, the windows are almost certainly the weak link — walls, roofs and floors have far more mass than glass.
The frequency you need to stop
Traffic noise centres around 100–1,000 Hz — car tyres, engine boom and lorry rumble. This is exactly the range where a mismatched-pane secondary glazing unit performs best.
The specification we install
6.4 mm acoustic laminated on the secondary pane, 100 mm cavity, compression seals around the perimeter. Rw typically 42–47 dB — enough to reduce Ecclesall Road, Sheffield Parkway or A61 traffic to a soft background hum.
Common Sheffield corridors we work
Ecclesall Road, Chesterfield Road, Middlewood Road, Abbeydale Road, London Road, Rotherham Parkway — all covered by our standard traffic-noise spec.
